“Power in organization: how behavioral sciences could change the world”

We already have a wealth of solid ideas for how to convert our economy to one that will leave us with a habitable planet in 100 years. So why are those ideas gaining little traction where it matters? Humans have an inherent behavioral challenge when it comes to differing perspectives and decision making. We have evolved up through the ranks of apes where competition and domination were the means of governance yet we stand now at the edge of an age where such approaches will kill us, if we allow. What if we could unlock the code to our capacity to work together as a species, smoothly, effectively, efficiently and with great joy? After all, most of us deeply yearn to contribute meaningfully to the needs of our times and yet bounce of glass walls and ceilings endlessly. What is the root of all this dysfunction?

This workshop will present a meta-framework for human power and communication, an academic amalgamation of a practically grounded practice which produces both immediate and long term benefits to our capacity to work together cooperatively and effectively in service of larger aims.  During this workshop, we will learn about and discuss a transdisciplinary and integrative framework for converting our organizations to adaptable and resilient structures; a practical means of teaching humans how to cooperate effectively and efficiently; how to make difficult decisions with multiple conflicting perspectives rapidly; how to tap the intrinsic motivation of humans as they go their work so we can unleash creative and innovative maelstroms; how to navigate organizational uncertainty and risk with the grace of a martial arts master; how to construct a fair and moral governance process for all our activities across multiple scales; how to effectively distribute power throughout an organization.
